On Saturday, August 14 the Haitian government declared a state of emergency after at least 304 people died in a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that hit Haiti.
Rescue groups on the ground assessed the damage. There is "significant damage to homes, roads, and infrastructure," according to American Red Cross spokeswoman Katie Wilkes.
2,200 + earthquake-related deaths, 12,260 + injuries reported
130,000 houses destroyed or damaged, 24,400 people displaced 650,000 people requiring humanitarian assistance.
Disaster Aid USA teams have assessed the situation and are in contact with Haitian and Emergency officials. Shelter, clean water, medical supplies, and numerous other emergency aid items are needed.
